Spring is nearly here around Albany and Corvallis, which means that now is also the perfect time to dust off those running shoes to prepare for your next 5K. There are some great 5Ks and marathons coming up in the area this year, as well as the largest triathlon (with an indoor swimming section) in the United States. Lebanon

• Cheadle Lake 5K/10K – 37919 Weirich Dr., Lebanon, OR 97355
  Looking for a run that the whole family can enjoy? Hosted by the Build Lebanon Trails non-profit organization, the Cheadle Lake 5K/10K promises a full day of fun with a course that begins in Cheadle Lake Park before winding its way through newly built trails. There will also be a special Kids Obstacle Dash featuring a half-mile course with more than 20 unique obstacles to navigate. It all takes place on May 3, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM.

• Walk a Mile for a Child & 5K – 25 Academy St., Lebanon, OR 97355
  Sponsored by the Lebanon Police Department and Dala's Blue Angels, the Walk a Mile for a Child & 5K is an event with the goal of raising awareness, preventing child abuse, and promoting the well-being of children. The event takes place on April 5, 2025, with a course beginning at the Academy Square Gazebo.

Corvallis

• McDonald Forest Trail Runs – McDonald Forest (OSU Campus), 1500 SW Jefferson Way, Corvallis, OR 97331
  Looking for a run that amps up the challenge level? The McDonald Forest Trail Runs include both a 5K and 15K run, through McDonald Forest on the Oregon State University Campus. Proceeds from the race benefit local cross-country teams, and kids under 18 can sign up for the race with a 50 percent reduced fee. Both races take place on March 1, 2025, with the 15K leading things off at 9:00 AM.

• Corvallis Half Marathon – 660 SW 26th St., Corvallis, OR 97331
  Another excellent choice for a run with the whole family, the Corvallis Half Marathon includes a 13.1-mile half marathon, a 5K run/walk, and a special Family 1K designed with kids in mind. This is also a great choice if your aiming for a personal best time, with a paved, relatively flat course for all races. Look forward to this event on April 4, 2025, beginning with the start of the half marathon at 8:30 AM.

• Beaver Freezer Triathlon – Oregon State University Triathlon Club, Corvallis, OR, 97330
  Sponsored by the OSU Triathlon Club, the Beaver Freezer Triathlon has been a local favorite for more than 25 years, featuring a triathlon that's perfect for first-timers and beloved by experienced participants, as well. This year's race takes place on April 12, 2025, with online registration open now.

Albany

• iRun for Kids – 2100 SW Elm St., Albany, OR 97321
  The iRun for Kids is a great event that raises money for the Albany Public Schools Foundation, and it returns to the track at West Albany High School after a two-year hiatus. The event includes 5K and 10K runs, as well as a special Little Leprechaun Dash for younger kids. All races take place on March 15, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM.
