Newport Seafood & Wine Festival – Newport, OR

A local tradition that's nearing its 50th anniversary, the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival returns for four days of food, music, and shopping from February 19-22, 2026. Located in the "Dungeness crab capital of the world," this event celebrates Oregon's vibrant culinary culture and the wonderful wineries producing award-winning wines close to home. Under the big, heated tent that houses the event, you'll find wine from more than 50 Pacific Northwest wineries, fantastic seafood from 20 top chefs based on the Oregon coast, and more than 70 Pacific Northwest artisans where you can shop for unique finds.

Each day of the event also features live music all day long, including performances from many performers based in Oregon. New this year will be the Raw-some Bar, a seafood raw bar experience with fresh clams, oysters, and more. Purchase a ticket for one day, grab a full weekend pass, or pick up a weekend VIP pass for tons of unique perks. Some VIP passes are only available online before the event, and all tickets are discounted if you purchase before the event, so it's worth grabbing your tickets in advance.

Big Blue Film Fest – Newport, OR

Film lovers looking for a cozy winter getaway on the Oregon coast will want to plan a weekend around the Big Blue Film Fest. Taking place January 23–24, 2026, this annual festival celebrates independent films that explore ocean themes, coastal culture, environmental stories, and life by the sea.

Screenings are held at the Newport Performing Arts Center and the Hatfield Marine Science Center and feature a mix of documentaries from filmmakers across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. 

Search for Finders Keepers Floats – Lincoln City, OR

With over 7 miles of beautiful beaches, Lincoln City is also home to a unique Oregon tradition. Throughout the year, including all winter long, the "float fairies" place gorgeous, handblown glass floats at hidden locations all around the beach. You can search for Finders Keepers floats throughout the winter along Lincoln City's beaches, and any that you find are yours to keep. Each float is a great conversation piece and a beautiful decoration for your home.

Throughout the year, the float fairies also have special drop dates when you'll find more floats than usual on the beach, and the floats for special drops often have a unique theme that ties into a local event happening during the winter. For this winter, the special drop dates are for Opening Weekend from January 9-11, 2026, when 100 floats will be dropped, and the Retro Expo from February 6-16, 2026, when 100 Japanese-style floats will be dropped.

Hunt for Treasures on the Trails – Yachats, OR

Every Saturday throughout the winter, handcrafted mushroom sculptures are placed on the trails around Yachats for adventurers to discover. This year's mushrooms were created by local artisans, including Paris Birdwell Designs, Billow Cloud Soaps, and Swallows Nest Homemade. Just like the glass floats in Lincoln City, any mushroom sculptures that you find are yours to keep and display in your home.
